Three Sisters: Captivating Corn

  • Montclair History Center 108 Orange Road Montclair, NJ, 07042 United States (map)

CANCELLED. Our two organizations are planning to run these programs as an afterschool program in the warmer weather in April. Check back here next year!

On each of the half days in the Montclair School District, children will discover the three staple crops in indigenous culture: corn, beans, and squash. They learn about how they are grown and see how it would have been prepared on a historic hearth. Children are welcome to come to one or all three days. This joint program of the Montclair Community Farms and the Montclair History Center takes place at 108 Orange Road, Montclair. Acknowledging that we live on the ancestral lands of the Ramapough Munsee Lenape people, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Ramapough Culture and Land Foundation (www.ramapough.org). $49/child per day. Recommended for grades 1 to 5.
