History at Home: Montclair as Seen through a Magic Lantern

FREE ZOOM PRESENTATION

Before iPhones, VHS, Super 8 film, and slide projectors, there was the “Magic Lantern..” Developed in the 17th century, Magic Lantern technology was all the rage by the late 1800s. The Montclair Camera Club was no exception. Beth Shepard, local historian, highlights scenes of Montclair places and people taken by W. C. Crocker, Dr. Morgan Ayres, and other members of the club. We’re able to do this on Zoom because the historic lantern slides in our collection have been recently been digitized with generous support from the Albert Payson Terhune Foundation.
