Charles Brady, a former Catholic priest, served St. Peter Claver parish on Elmwood Avenue in Montclair and Holy Spirit parish in Orange from 1966 through 1973. Brady'smission in ministry was to reach and empower youth regardless of their color or religion. He was closely involved with youth sports programs in Montclair and Orange and helped establish the Soul Stompers Drill team. Brady worked tirelessly in the community for equal justice for all and by the time he was ordained in the priesthood he had become a close friend of Dr. Martin Luther King and his wife Coretta.
