History at Home: Early History of Montclair State University

“A more beautiful or healthful site could not have been chosen” was a phrase used to describe the original 25 acres of land purchased in 1904 for the Montclair State Normal School. Opened in 1908, the Normal School was founded to educate elementary school teachers. It would grow to become Montclair State University. Learn about the early history of the campus with Paul Martinez, Archivist at the Harry A. Sprague Library. We will explore the original buildings, campus grounds, and student life in the first part of the 20th century. This is a free program held on zoom, register for the zoom link here.
