Italian-Owned Businesses

Many Italian Americans who settled in Montclair went on to open businesses that became important to the community, including a local tavern, shoe repair shop, tailor, bakery, pizzeria, butcher shops, grocery stores, and garages. Many of these were concentrated in the 4th Ward neighborhood where Italian Americans lived, as well as along Bloomfield Avenue, which has been a center of business in Montclair for over a century.
